In 2017 San Marino changed all its national visuals on the euro coins it issues.  The 2-euro coin depicts a detail from Urbinelli's painting of San Marino bearing the three ‘Towers’ of the small republic. The 1 euro is illustrated by the castle of Cesta, often called the Second Tower. The 50 euro coin features a portrait of San Marino by Restrosi. The 20-cent coin features the three Towers of Mount Titano, the symbol of San Marino. The facade of San Francisco Church is depicted on the 10-cent coin and that of San Quirino on the 5-cent coin. The 2 cent coin features the city gate, while the 1 cent coin has the San Marino coat of arms as its illustration. 

The 2 euro coins commemorate the ‘530th anniversary of the death of Piero della Francesca’ and the ‘Bicentenary of the death of Antonio Canova’. The obverse of the first commemorative coin depicts the emblematic profile of the Duke of Urbino, a masterpiece created by Piero della Francesca, one of the greatest painters of the Renaissance, as part of his close relationship with the court of Urbino. With the issue of this coin, San Marino joins in the celebrations of the sixth centenary of the birth of Federico da Montefeltro, a perfect lord of the Renaissance and champion of enlightened humanism. With the second commemorative coin, San Marino celebrates the art of Antonio Canova, to mark the bicentenary of the death of the Venetian painter and sculptor. The obverse of the coin features the relief image of the sculpture of the goddess Hebe, a work that Canova created between 1796 and 1817 in four copies now kept in Berlin, St Petersburg, Chatsworth and Forlì. The latter was chosen for the San Marino coin.
