José Xavier Mouzinho da Silveira (1780-1849) was a Portuguese statesman known for his administrative and fiscal reforms that modernized Portugal in the 19th century. He abolished feudal privileges and streamlined the tax system. Active during the Liberal Wars, he supported the liberals against the absolutists and played a key role under Dom Pedro IV. His reforms had a lasting impact despite his exile in France.
