The Central Bank of Malta has issued a €2 commemorative coin depicting the Temples of Tarxien. This coin is the sixth in a series of seven coins dedicated to the prehistoric sites of the Maltese islands which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The reverse side of the coin shows the common face of €2. The obverse (national side) which was designed by Noel Galea Bason shows a representation of the Tarxian temples.

 Edge: Striated and inscribed with a succession of the numeral "2" right side up and down separated by two Maltese Crosses which are always positioned in the same direction, repeated six times.
