Shotoku-taishi was a Japanese statesman of the 7th century, recognized for his contribution to the modernization of Japan. He promoted Buddhism, implemented reforms based on Confucian principles, and created the Seventeen-Article Constitution. Despite his premature assassination, he is considered a key figure in Japanese history and a visionary.
