In 2021, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Starter Kit and the introduction of the first euros into circulation, the Monnaie de Paris decided to honor the launch of the single currency in the legendary "Sower" collection. The French institute took the opportunity to renew the iconography of this numismatic classic by introducing Roty's original design in a new setting and featuring for the first time the portrait of Rosalinda Pesce, the model who inspired the engraver.
The rectangular shape recalls the dimensions and format of the Starter Kit. The reverse side depicts two sowers: the first in the background is "generic," the one typically found on coins. The second, in the foreground, is the original face of the woman who inspired Oscar Roty, Rosalinda Pesce. It is the first time she has appeared on a coin. Additionally, 20 stars are visible in the background, representing the 20 years of the Starter Kit. The sun is depicted on this coin as a reminder of the French francs preceding the euro. The French flag appears on the furrows upon which the Sower sows, in heraldic form, with horizontal lines for blue, a solid area for white, and vertical lines for red.
On the obverse side, there are as many coins depicted as in the Starter Kit, totaling 40 coins with a value of €15.24. The euro symbol has been taken from the obverse side of the Starter Kit. It should be noted that this series was struck to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Starter Kit. The year of minting is visible on this side.
