To celebrate Asterix's sporting exploits, the Monnaie de Paris is exclusively minting a shaped coin depicting the most famous of the Gauls. Perched on the highest step of the podium, Asterix stands proudly and carries a laurel branch in his hand as a reward for his sporting achievements. The reverse of the coin is decorated with pictograms relating to sport and the Olympics, and shows the face value of the coin, its year and the initials RF for "République Française".
