On June 6, 1944 took place the Normandy landings also called the "D-Day". On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings, the Monnaie de Paris honours on the face of each coin of this series the different types of military operations that took place on this historic date. In the foreground, a Dakota can be seen flying over the whole. It is accompanied by Spitfire and Mustang fighters. The room is dotted with paratroopers and other aircraft symbolising airborne operations. In the centre, the ground forces disembark from barges.
