Description

Designed by Jules-Clément Chaplain:

The obverse of the coin features the profile of the long-haired Marianne, the unmistakable emblem of the French Republic, wearing her Phrygian cap and a crown of oak leaves, symbolizing a more stable Republic. This transition from laurel to oak is highly symbolic, evoking a Republic that is rooted and solid. The wording “République Française” in a circular arc, and the signature of engraver Jules-Clément Chaplain, complete the engraving.

On the reverse of this gold bullion coin, the French motto “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité” frames a proud Rooster, the national symbol of France, walking to the left on a flowery ground. The coin's face value and vintage are also shown.
