On the left-hand side of the face is a stanza from the work of the French poet Paul Eluard Liberté, a reference to the motto of the Republic. The different words are attached to this extract.
Extract from the poem "Liberté" by Paul Eluard in "Au Rendez-vous allemand" Éditions de Minuit 1945.
The reverse is that of the current €2 currency common to all countries in the euro zone. The face value "2 euro" appears in front of the map of Europe.
